Preserving more than 200 acres in Southwest Atlanta
Lake Charlotte Nature Preserve, purchased in 2020, serves as Atlanta’s second largest public park and largest urban forest. Lake Charlotte Nature Preserve, once destined to become a landfill, is now an oasis of green with old-growth oak and hickory trees. The passive-use park, now open to the public, offers visitors trails under a high-quality, diverse tree canopy which is a rare find in an urban landscape. The park also protects significant late archaic archaeological resources including soapstone quarries active between 600 BCE - 1500 BCE.
